Waitsfield is home to shops and boutiques that house unique Vermont-style décor, your favorite outdoor apparel brands, and locally made artisan goods. Walk around the charming, historic Bridge Street for an afternoon, and pop in shops like the Artisan's Gallery for hand crafted pieces of art and furnishings, or any of the boutiques for curated finds. Don’t forget to pop in stores like Blockhouse Studio, The Mad Rover, and Addison West along Route 100.

FARM MARKETS

Vermont’s rural landscape is home to impressive family-run farms catering to local restaurants, venues, and beyond. Find the freshest produce, hand-raised meats, cheeses, flowers, and more organic products. The Waitsfield Farmers Market is one of the most popular in Vermont and is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Hartshorn's Organic Farm is another vibrant farm stand off Route 100, producing and selling delicious, vegetables, fruits, and flowers from their roadside farm stand. They offer pick your own strawberries and blueberries too. Stop by any of Waitsfield’s local farm stands for a true local taste of the region.

HIKING
There’s no better way to experience summer in the Mad River Valley. With dozens of trails to choose from, there’s something to find for all abilities. You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the breathtaking vistas or wooded trails here in the Valley. For beginner friendly hikes, try the Catamount Trail and Harris Hill Trail Loop, Wu Ledges, or Sunset Ledge. Those looking to break more of a sweat can check out the view from our neighbors at Mad River Glen by way of the App Gap to the Mad River Warming Hut trail. At the base of Lincoln Peak, follow a number of the ski trails up for a new summer perspective of your favorite views, or make the trek to the summit of Lincoln Peak. Whether you start right here on our mountain, or explore local trails, there's no better way to get acquainted with the Green Mountains.

SWIMMING

Vermont is known for its raging rivers that flow with crystal clear water which are nothing short of refreshing on a hot summer day. The Valley is sprinkled with perfectly carved river bends and quiet swimming holes. Some of our favorites are the Lareau Swim Hole, Warren Falls, and the Great Eddy Swimming Hole near the covered bridge. All with plenty of space to sun, play, and cool off after a hike.

BIKING
Some of Vermont’s finest biking trails can be found right in the heart of the Mad River Valley. Explore the vast network of mountain biking trails woven throughout the woods. You can start off right at the base of our mountain and venture into the Eurich Pond and Sugarbush Trails, or head to the Chase Brook Town Forest - Marble Hill Farm Trails for more intermediate rides, or start off at the Blueberry Lake & Green Mountain National Forest trails for some beginner runs. Take to the roads and take in Scenic Route 100 while gravel biking. If you're up for a climb, The Mad River Valley is home to some of the steepest and longest road climbs in the Northeast, including the Lincoln, Appalachian, Roxbury, Duxbury and Moretown Gaps. Be sure to stop at the Valley’s newest biking hub, Mad Bush Falls for gear, food, and more!
